ABOUT THE TEACHER
Izaak is a violinist and violin/viola teacher with a decade of professional performance experience and over half a decade of teaching experience.
Throughout the Southeast and the Denver Metropolitan area, Izaak has performed in a variety of ensembles, from string quartets and orchestras to recording orchestras and jazz and rock back-up strings.
Izaak has taught the violin and viola extensively, teaching a wide variety of ages, levels, and styles. Although trained in the Suzuki method, Izaak employs a variety of musical texts when developing a teaching plan for an individual student, drawing techniques from Flesch, Sevcik, Galamian, and Auer methods. As a teacher, he is especially passionate about helping students find the best sound on their instrument, both through the technical setup and musical development. Finding a strong, focused sound as a foundation for their further studies can, and will, carry the student far into their musical explorations!
He studied in the studios of Levon Ambartsumian, Shakhida Azimkodjaeva, and Dr. Michael Heald at the University of Georgia, and Raymond Leung of the Atlanta Symphony. He completed his Master’s in Violin Performance with Dr. Linda Wang at the University of Denver in 2019.
